Inspirational Collage

11 November 2010

Photos evoke so much emotion. Our pictures arouse pride, as we look back on the many stages of our life with family and friends. Our brains can fail us; the details fade away, but photos bring them back and help us revisit the special times we thought we would never forget.

Sometimes the images that evoke the most passion are not of our loved ones at all, but pictures we have grown up seeing on the walls of the world around us. Famous photos like The Last Supper, JFK with young John under his desk, a humble Mahatma Gandhi, Buzz Aldrin walking on the moon, the kiss in Times Square on V-J Day and the NY skyline with the World Trade Center have graced the walls of our homes and schools for decades. When we see the picture now, it takes us back to that place and time and wraps us in the comfort of familiarity.

This stunning Christian collage was created in Graphics-Toolbox using 46 different images of Christ throughout his life. It has been interesting to receive responses from viewers. Most find that one particular picture pops out at them and stirs their emotions. Often that picture is one they remember from their mother's bedroom, grandparents' living room or school classroom.

The photos we take and the images that surround us today will be our memories tomorrow. We can't choose what will stir us then, but we can be sure that in this image rich world, our future will be filled with vivid graphic souvenirs.
